ASRC Federal Holding Company Network Architect in Reston, Virginia

ASRC Federal - ExaTech is currently seeking an experienced Network Architect for a role on one of our subcontracts. This full time position affords the successful candidate the opportunity to work in an engaging, high-tech development environment, working with an excellent team and customer base.

  • Serve as the network architect supporting the sponsor's refresh program. Responsible for a full range of complex first article network designs encompassing multiple technologies that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards and guidelines

  • Responsible for the strategic architectural direction of enterprise networks. Develop robust product road maps, standards, templates, and network documentation

  • Utilize tools to analyze and identify End of Life software and hardware equipment and formulate cost-effective architectural solutions maximizing the use of industry standards and protocols, COTS network appliances and/or open-source software applications to recapitalize enterprise networks

  • Work with stakeholders as well as technical and analytical concepts to define constraints, develop requirements, create system requirement documents, and concept of operations documentation

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly Required

  • BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and ten (10) to fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and four (4) to seven (7) years of progressive experience

  • Ability to demonstrate experience with network design, network architecture, and creating relevant network documentation.

  • Demonstrate advanced level hands-on experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network services, equipment and devices, such as Switches, Routers, Servers, Cables, Rack and Firewalls.

  • Possess a thorough understanding of the OSI 7 layer network communications model and core technologies, concepts, protocols, and applications such as: LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, SFTP, SSH, SNMP, VPNs, Ethernet, Frame Relay, Latency, QoS.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Routing and Switching systems (Cisco & Juniper). Understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of common operating systems: Windows, Cisco IOS, UNIX and Linux.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Information Assurance concepts, including both government and commercial encryption techniques, especially IPSec protocols such as IKE and ISAKMP.

  • Experience applying rigorous System Engineering

  • Experience with Type 1 cryptographic equipment from both and engineering and policy perspective.

  • Demonstrated experience with written communication and presentation skills.

  • Required Certifications:

  • CCIE

  • CCNP

  • JNCIS/P

  • Analyze requirements as well as evacuate problems of workflow and organization to plan and develop appropriate corrective action.

  • Produce network device scripts based on sponsor requirements.

Conduct integration and testing of network hardware and software

  • Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer, approval before implementation

  • Provide Type 1 cryptographic solutions to include strategic architectural direction and design, product roadmaps, requirements gathering, testing, implementation, documentation and supportability

  • Provide implementation support as necessary

  • Provide fourth tier support, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving network issues

  • Follow all customer network security processes and procedures, ensure compliance with all sponsor policies

  • Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Fifteen years of experience related to designing, installing and troubleshooting networks

  • Relevant industry certifications or Network Specialist training is highly desirable, such as: MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CNE, JCIE, ITIL, ISO/IEC 20000.

  • Experience with government networks and secure communications desirable

  • Experience with Peer Review and/or briefing the Network Engineering Review Board

  • Experience with network performance optimization

  • Knowledge of data center networking

  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Self-starter and ability to work well in a highly performance team environment

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure, constantly changing environment

  • Demonstrated experience taking initiative and working with little or no supervision
